ZLD with approximately 98.75%* Wastewater Recovery
As a total solutions provider, Kontek has all the wastewater treatment and filtration technology available in our product line to engineer a complete zero liquid discharge system for your manufacturing process. *Results will vary based on local water parameters and water treatment objectives
Each of the Kontek wastewater management systems perform a specific role in a zero liquid discharge process. Learn how each of the Kontek technologies contribute to achieving zero liquid discharge.
An existing or new wastewater treatment system is required for the first step in ZLD. The system can be either a continuous flow system, like our 1400 Series, or a batch treatment system, like our BTS System.
RO systems are usually the second stage of water purification in implementing zero liquid discharge. RO technology, such as ROKON, lower overall TDS using high quality polyamide-urea barrier which lengthens the life of the membrane and enhances the reverse osmosis process. The purified water is sent back to the industrial process for reuse.
A second RO system is implemented to process the brine reject from the primary RO system. The second RO system is referred to as the brine recovery RO. The brine recovery RO increases the overall wastewater recovery rate when implementing zero liquid discharge.
A vacuum evaporator is used to further clarify brine water collected from the secondary ROKON Brine Recovery system. Distillation occurs in a vacuum which reduces the amount of energy required to recover the wastewater.
Solids from the atmospheric evaporators is sent to the CONREC liquid crystallizer for drying. The drying process reduces the moisture further from the solids lowering the overall weight of the solid waste. The solid waste is then hauled away for disposal. This is the final step in zero liquid discharge.
