RE: United States/Canada Tariff Concerns

Dear Valued Customers and Industry Partners,

                Over the past two years, we have received multiple inquiries regarding tariffs on globally manufactured products shipped to the United States.  Kontek understands the challenges associated with navigating the current volatility of the tariff landscape and has taken the necessary steps to insulate our customers.   The following questions and answers are intended to provide clarity regarding our continued commitment as a valued partner in your supply chain.

 FAQs

 Q: What if our corporate mandate requires us to purchase all capital equipment from a U.S. company?

 A:  Several years ago, Kontek recognized the need for increased corporate presence within the U.S.  We are proud to announce that this vision became a reality in April 2025 through the opening of our U.S. operations located in Spring Lake, MI.  All your corporate purchases and/or directives can be processed and met at this location.

 Q: What are the current tariffs levied on Kontek equipment manufactured in Canada and shipped to the United States? 

A: None. Kontek equipment has always met the regulatory requirements of the current USMCA free trade agreement set to run through 2035. Our equipment is classified as Water Filtration Equipment under HS code 8421.21.00.00 (machinery and apparatus for filtering or purifying water) and we will continue to provide customs clearance assistance for all shipments as required.

 Q: What happens if the current USMCA agreement is changed or cancelled after a purchase order is received and accepted?

A: Customers strictly operating in the United States may choose to work with our U.S based company to avoid potential customs clearance issues.  As we have for the past 45 years, Kontek will honor accepted purchase orders accompanied terms, and will absorb additional costs associated with sudden changes to the USMCA agreement for component purchases from Canada or Mexico.  Where U.S. corporations, including our own, are forced to increase costs due to tariffs imposed on worldwide purchases, we will be required to pass along those costs so we can continue to offer our clients the best possible performance, reliability, and support we can offer.
